Animals eat their own, why not the Conservative Political Action Conference?

CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, is a cadre of rabid Bush-worshippers who are reputed to have claimed, “Despite the findings of the authoritative David Kay report and every reputable media outlet on earth, the United States actually discovered weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, vindicating all of George W. Bush's pre-war predictions.”

CPAC attracts some “mentally…" - well let’s just say - “mental notables,” such as Henry Hyde, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback, Missouri Senator Norm Coleman, NRA president Kayne Robinson, Vice President Dick Cheney, and, of course, former Congressman, Bob Barr.

But under the right circumstances, even animals will eat their own. That was the case with CPAC, or at least so reports the Washington Post in “Bob Barr, Bane of the Right?” No so fast, Bob.

At a recent CPAC gathering, Barr attacked Pres. Bush for Bush’s attack on our civil liberties, specifically domestic wiretaps. "Are we losing our lodestar, which is the Bill of Rights?" Barr asked and continued. “Do we truly remain a society that believes that . . . every president must abide by the law of this country? I, as a conservative, say yes. I hope you as conservatives say yes." Not so fast, Bob.

But, only “polite applause” followed Barr’s comments - that is until Richard Sorcinelli spoke. Sorcinelli booed Barr and shouted, "I can't believe I'm in a conservative hall listening to him say [Bush] is off course trying to defend the United States.”
